Your next step after a dispute

Current Dispute Lawyer

An unfamiliar Current-related debit may involve a Current account, another bank account, or a different Current product. Bank Dispute Law reviews the payment route, your fraud reports, and the response to your claim.

Identify Current, Finco, and the relevant banking partner

Current operates through Finco entities and identifies Choice Financial Group and Cross River Bank as banking partners. Use the agreement and statement for your particular account to identify the provider involved. Current’s legal-document directory links to the product-specific documents.

Do not automatically treat both banks or every Finco entity as parties to a dispute. Account changes and product differences make the documents in effect for your transaction important.

Money leaving Current versus a debit at another bank

If the disputed entry appears in Current, identify the account balance and transaction type. If it appears at another bank with a Current-related description, save that bank’s statement and request the transaction details.

Create a timeline linking any funding debit, transfer into Current, outgoing transfer, and refund. A recognizable app name does not establish that you initiated the transfer. Avoid counting both stages of the same loss as separate losses.

Save your replies to fraud alerts

Preserve the original alert, your reply, and the time sent. If you answered that a transaction was not yours, keep the acknowledgment and any later instructions. Also document any separate call, in-app report, or written dispute.

Compare later entries to the alert’s transaction, amount, and date. An alert response may concern one attempted payment while your formal dispute concerns several posted transfers. Make that distinction clear in your records.

Separate debit, Build Card, and advance transactions

Download the statement and agreement for each affected product. A deposit-account debit, Build Card transaction, and advance repayment should not be grouped under one unexplained “Current charge.” Different rules and terms may need review.

If you lost account access, keep support tickets about restoring access as well as claim numbers about the money. Record when you could first view the transaction history again.

Prepare the denial for legal review

Keep the entire denial and any supporting explanation. Mark which transactions remain unresolved, what evidence you submitted, and whether a temporary credit was later removed. Bring the applicable account and arbitration documents.

A review can assess the facts, potential legal claims, appropriate parties, and forum. An unsuccessful dispute does not by itself establish a legal violation or guarantee a recovery.

What to save for a case review

Frequently asked questions

Which Current bank should I name?

Start with your own statement and agreement. The relevant bank can differ by account or product, and identifying it is part of the review.

Is replying to a fraud text the same as disputing every transfer?

Do not assume so. Preserve the reply, identify all disputed posted entries through a verified channel, and keep the acknowledgment.

Can I request a review if I never opened a Current account?

Yes. Explain that the debit appears at another institution and provide the description and available transaction details.
