Fifth Third Bank dispute help

Dispute denials, missing temporary credit, and investigation delays. Read the guides, preserve your records, and understand what a free case review can address.

Start with the account and the evidence

Preserve your account-opening date, the rules supplied to you, claim acknowledgments, and any request for written confirmation of your report.

A denied claim does not by itself establish a legal violation. Review the transaction, reporting dates, and investigation together. The EFTA guide explains consumer electronic-transfer protections; the FCBA guide addresses credit-card billing errors.

Arbitration and filing costs

Section 11 of the posted rules is labeled effective for accounts opened on or after November 14, 2019. It provides for AAA arbitration, with Military Lending Act qualifications. The fee provision describes a written-request advance of up to $500 after the customer pays the specified court-filing-fee equivalent; ultimate allocation is for the arbitrator. It is not a blanket free-filing policy.

The version applicable to your account, amendments, opt-out history, exclusions, and administrator rules must be reviewed before choosing a forum. Arbitration costs are separate from attorney’s fees and case expenses.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the account-opening date matter?

The posted arbitration section has an account-opening qualification. An attorney should review your actual agreement and amendments rather than treating every Fifth Third account as identical.

Will submitting an inquiry start an arbitration?

No. A case-review inquiry is not a legal filing or a formal notice to the institution. Representation and any filing require further review and agreement.

What should I provide for a free review?

Start with the institution, transaction type, amount, first-report date, and response. Keep statements and notices available. Do not include passwords, PINs, or full account numbers.
