PSECU dispute denied? What to review next

This article concerns Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union, or PSECU. If an unauthorized-transfer dispute was denied, identify the affected account and keep the complete response. A denial is a starting point for reviewing the evidence and process, not automatic proof that the credit union violated the law.

Identify the transfer path

Record whether the transaction was an ACH debit, debit-card purchase, ATM withdrawal, or another electronic payment. A transfer description may be abbreviated; ask for clarification if necessary. Ordinary checks, business accounts, and certain wire systems require a different coverage analysis.

Build a chronology from the first notice

Put the statement date, discovery date, first report, written confirmation, and final decision in order. For a qualifying consumer electronic-transfer error, notice generally must reach the institution within 60 days after the first statement showing the error is sent. Report promptly; separate lost-device liability rules can also matter.

Compare findings with the report you made

Ask for the written determination and the documents relied on in the decision. Under Regulation E, covered adverse determinations carry disclosure requirements. Check whether the material relates to the exact transfer, addresses your factual explanation, and accounts for the evidence you provided.

If the decision references a login, explain who had access and who initiated the payment. If it references a recognized recipient, distinguish prior authorized activity from the specific transfer being disputed. Be clear about what you know and what remains uncertain.

Prepare both the facts and the account documents

  • A concise list of disputed transfers and unresolved amounts.
  • Your earliest report and proof of when it was received.
  • The final findings and supporting documents supplied.
  • Temporary-credit entries, reversals, and related fees.
  • The applicable agreement, amendments, and any arbitration opt-out record.

Our PSECU resource page links to the posted dispute-resolution terms. A transaction dispute and a formal notice preceding a legal proceeding are not necessarily interchangeable. A review can address the appropriate next steps without assuming either that arbitration is required or that filing costs will be waived.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same credit union as Publix Employees FCU?

No. PSECU and Publix Employees Federal Credit Union are separate institutions with different account terms.

Should I estimate transactions I cannot identify?

Label estimates and uncertainty clearly. Ask for clarification or records rather than presenting guesses as established facts.
